Unlock Energy Savings with the Latest Incentives: IRA 2022 Electrification Rebates & Tax Credits
Hello, I’m Juan Jose Cervantes, a licensed Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty, and I have some exciting news to share! As of today, October 23, 2024, and I just completed my training and achieved NAR’s GREEN Designation, also, I want to introduce a fantastic opportunity for homeowners to save on energy-efficient home improvements. Thanks to the “Inflation Reduction Act” (IRA) of 2022, there are incredible rebates, tax credits, and grants available that make it easier and more affordable to upgrade your home’s energy systems.
By achieving my NAR Green Designation, I’m able to help guide homeowners through these new programs and make the most of them to increase home value, lower utility bills, and reduce environmental impact.
Key Incentives Available for Homeowners
The IRA 2022 offers two main rebate programs aimed at helping homeowners transition to energy-efficient systems:
1. High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act (HEEHRA): This program provides up to $14,000 in rebates for electrification upgrades in low- and moderate-income households. Here’s a breakdown:
– Up to $8,000 for heat pumps
– Up to $1,750 for heat pump water heaters
– Up to $840 for electric stoves or clothes dryers
– $4,000 for electrical panel upgrades
– $2,500 for rewiring
– $1,600 for weatherization
For households earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), these rebates can cover 100% of the costs for qualifying electrification projects. If your household earns between 80-150% of AMI, the program covers 50% of the costs.
2. HOMES Rebate Program: This program is designed to reward energy-efficient retrofits that save energy, based on actual or modeled savings:
– Up to $4,000 for projects reducing energy use by 35% or more.
– Up to $2,000 for projects with 20-34% energy savings.
These incentives can be particularly helpful for those who don’t qualify for the full HEEHRA benefits.
Federal Tax Credits: More Savings for Home Improvements
In addition to rebates, the IRA extends and enhances tax credits for energy-efficient home improvements through 2032. You can get a 30% federal tax credit for upgrading to ENERGY STAR-certified appliances, such as:
– $300 for air-source heat pumps
– $300 for heat pump water heaters
– Up to $500 for energy-efficient windows and doors
– 10% of insulation costs (up to $500)
These credits can significantly reduce the upfront cost of home improvements, especially if you’re looking to improve your home’s energy efficiency by upgrading your HVAC system, windows, or insulation.
